Roadside locations North West England

These are my chosen locations that I use but I do sometimes try other venues, keep an eye out on my social media posts for event details.

A65 Devils Bridge

I'm usually between the Devils Bridge turn & the Lancaster turn.The road leading to the burger van is generally too head on for me photography wise as I prefer to get a more dynamic shot of bikers heading in & out along the A65.

B6255 Yorkshire Dales

There are several locations that I use along the stretch between the iconic viaduct & Hawes. I do sometimes use a location just outside Ingleton as well.It's such a fantastic road to ride & one of my favourites when out on my bike...

Oasis Bike Night

I am roadside most Tuesday evenings outside the Oasis Bike Night venue.Sometimes I have the night off & go on my bike to soak up the atmosphere as it's such a good evening.

A65 Goat Gap

I am usually roadside a few hundred yards west of the Goat Gap Cafe.It's a fast road & challenging to catch bikers but some great images can be made.

A686 Hartside Pass

I made the decision towards the end of 2024 to no longer use the A686 Hartside pass as a weekend roadside session location, there seems to be way too many accidents up there now.Over the last couple of years there have been way too many accidents along there & it seemed like quite a lot during 2025? Both bikes & cars have been involved in these accidents, so it's not just bikes. I was there one session in 2024 & the road was more of a racetrack with some bikes & cars pushing their limits! I just don't want to personally see anything nasty happen.I have seen on social media some images & video from professional photographers & videographers of crashes & anti social riding/driving on the Hartside pass which isn't doing us photographers any favours in the eyes of some of the general public who seem to think photographers want the riders to go faster, when in actual fact I personally would rather the riders slow down so I can get a decent images of them - no image, no sale so not in my best interest to get them to ride faster!I'm also guessing the police will be monitoring the situation as well so I am not going to add fuel to the fire, I have had a good rapport with the police whenever I've chatted to them & I would like it to stay that way.This is how I make a living & do not want to end up having to give it up as I love doing it.Sorry to all those that do go up there & do ride within their limits but it's just getting silly with a few riding & driving beyond their limits spoiling it for the rest!!

A65 West of Ingleton

I have found a new location for 2026.

It is a couple of miles west of Ingleton on the A65. It's a fast stretch so will be a challenge but hey, if I don't challenge myself I can't give you a variation of locations...

A591 Nr Keswick

Hopefully a few sessions here in 2026

The location is at the large layby between Keswick & Thirlmere. Another fast stretch to get some dynamic images.

B6479 Helwith Bridge Near Horton in Ribblesdale

New for 2026

On the way to Ribblehead via Horton in Ribblesdale. After a trial run in 2025 & it was a good session, it's another location for 2026!
